REUNION ANNOUNCEMENT - A reunion of the USS Manley (DD-940) Association will be held April 23-27, 2009 at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville Hotel, Illinois. The special reunion rate is $95.00 plus taxes and a limited number of rooms will be available at this rate for Tuesday and Wednesday before and Monday after the reunion dates. Parking is complimentary. You are required to make two reservations: hotel room reservations and reunion registrations. Go to Boot Camp Reunion for more detailed information on the reunion. For hotel room reservations you may call toll free 1-800-445-8667 or click HILTON. To register online for the reunion, click REGISTER. To download a reunion registration form, click REGISTRATION FORM. The reunion will kick off with the opening of the hospitality room on Thursday, April 23 at 1100 with complimentary beverages and party snacks plus lots of shipmates to share a sea story. The opening ceremonies will be held on Thursday evening with a buffet dinner and a awesome video production - "Gunsmith." Reveille on Friday morning is 0600 just like the old days! We will start with a complimentary continental breakfast before we rush off to the NSTC, Great Lakes for the graduation ceremony of young sailors to be. We will tour the naval base - many changes since your day, have lunch at the Port O' Call Officers' Club and make our way to Cantigny for an inspiring tour of the The Big Red One Museum and a trek through the WWI trenches. Saturday morning, a little later today, we will head to downtown Chicago for an exciting tour of the "Toddlin' Town" and its great sights plus a magnificent lunch at one of Chicago's leading restaurants. A golf tourney will be arranged for Sunday morning and an announcement on that will be forthcoming. Local church services will be available. On Sunday afternoon, the business meeting will be held for the election of officers and selection of the next reunion site. Sunday evening will feature the Association Grand Banquet and the sensational entertainment of Fantasia. Monday will bring goodbyes at the farewell breakfast and a drawing for lots of door prizes. MEMBER COMMUNICATIONS - The Association utilizes both E-mail and snail mail to communicate to the members, including periodic announcements of interest and the newsletter. If you indicated an E-mail address when you first "enlisted," you were placed on the E-mail list - meaning that you will receive your communications by E-mail. If you prefer to opt out of E-mail and receive your communications by snail mail, you must inform manleydd940@cfl.rr.com. If you fail to maintain an active E-amil address, your record will be changed from E-mail to Regular Mail and you will begin to receive your communications by regular mail. However, because of the costs involved, the preferred method of communications is E-mail and your assistance is greatly appreciated. you served and have not yet "enlisted" once again, you are invited
to sign-up at the Enlist link. You will
receive the latest issue of Manley Notes - the
Association's quarterly newsletter, and an informational letter
from the President of the Association. Your support as well
as that of every former crew member is greatly appreciated and
necessary for our survival
ANNUAL ASSOCIATION DUES for the 2008 are now due and
remain at $15.00. Those paying dues in their first year will
receive a complimentary gift along with their membership card.
