Happy Thanksgiving!
The Homecoming Reunion
This is where it all started, where generations of men and
women wore the naval uniform in service of their country,
where the Manley Association will reunite in four days of
celebration - it is Norfolk, Virginia, one-time homeport to the
USS Manley (DD-940).
The city offers an ideal meeting place where old acquaint-
ances, memories and freedom are valued. Norfolk’s water-
front town is rich in culture, patriotism and maritime heritage
featuring more than ten historical attractions including mu-
seums, decorative homes and the largest military installa-
tion in the world - Naval Station Norfolk, home to the Atlan-
tic Fleet.
Norfolk’s revitalized downtown merges dining, entertain-
ment and shopping creating a unique mix of large city
amenities with small town charm and genuine Southern
hospitality. With over 250,000 active duty personnel, you
will be welcomed by a city whose residents understand and
appreciate the military and the sacrifices made to protect
our country.
From Thursday, April 19, 2007 until the final curtain call on
Monday morning, April 23, the men and women of the Man-
ley Association will join together in friendship rare to dis-
cover in other reunion groups. For four days, they will tour
the area highlights, hold a memorial service on board the
teak deck of the mighty USS Wisconsin, the last of the ac-
tive duty battleships, experience in awe the Virginia Interna-
tional Military Tattoo, and enjoy great entertainment and
sumptuous meals. Plus there will be the hospitality room,
complimentary and well-stocked, and the very popular
Room-A-Nite raffles.
